Field Trip

Mr. Lupchinski is one of the most amazing and talented people I know. He has the ability to cheer anyone up when they're down. No matter what age someone may be, he just has a way of getting almost everybody involved in whatever he is teaching. Whether it be kindergarteners or high school kids. I know this from past experience, as well, considering he use to be my choir teacher (still wish he didn't leave, but I'm glad Mr. Pollock finally came along). Well, anyways, I went to see Mr. L. again, and of course, he brightened up my day. He always tells the class about how I'm one of his former students and how I'm there to observe him. Some of the kids have no idea what he's talking about and kind of stare at me awkwardly the whole time I'm there, but it's ok, I understand. The others wave to me or smile at me. =] I love kids! Mr. L. taught them another cute little song that was kind of a tongue twister, at least for me. These kids pretty much nailed it by the second time around, while I was still sitting there trying to remember the words in my head. Then, they learned the hand movements that went along with that specific song (Mr. L.'s choreography put to good use *laugh out loud*). Those kids are too cute. Can't wait to go back again!

Connection

Choir is pretty much my favorite class of the whole day, except for when people just decide they don't feel like participating, as if the whole class is all about them. Well, for the past few days, choir hasn't been as fun as it normally is for me. Some of the kids in my class are acting like Mr. Pollock hasn't taught them a thing all year, when in fact, he has helped them to drastically improve their singing skills. Sometimes, I feel like people don't take choir as seriously as I do, but they don't have to bring down everyone elses mood with them. Don't get me wrong, this doesn't happen every single day. I just wish it didn't happen at all. I can tell how much those kids who were really embarrassed to sing in the beginning of the year love singing now. :]

The Boyfriend

My boyfriend, John, was just accepted to York Technical Institute
(YTI) for motocycle mechanics. He wants to be a motocycle technician, and this school offers a 9 month program to become completely certified to do so. They only accept 16 students at a time, of all different ages, so he was very fortunate to be chosen as one of them. There are just a few more things he has to do, such as take the placement test and get his motorcycle license. I am very proud of him, not only because he finally decided what he wanted to do with his life, but also, he is doing everything required of him with no issue. First of all, I went with him to take his motocycle permit test and he passed. Now, he just has to get his license, which he is practicing for right now. His test is next week, and there is no doubt in my mind, he'll pass it. Next, he is going this weekend to take his placement test. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that if he passes everything, his parents are going to buy him a motorcycle of his choice! How awesome is that? Yes, it may be a little rough on John and I, being hours away from each other, but I know we'll make it through those 9 months.

Field Trip!

"Under the Spreading Chestnut Tree" =]
On Friday, I was able to go visit Mr. L over at school 4 again. I was very excited to see what class he had that day and what songs he was going to teach them. He had another kindergarten class, but it was a different and more well-behaved class then the last time I went over there. I noticed some real talent in that class, as well as a real interest in music. Some of those kids caught onto the words Mr. L was teaching them before I even did. I was very impressed. Maybe sometime soon, I'll be able to help Mr. L teach a song to a class, or even teach a whole song by myself. That would be amazing. Of course, I might be a little nervous, and who knows if the kids would want to listen to someone they don't even know, but it's worth a shot. Next time I go see Mr. L., I'm probably going to leave earlier than 8th period, so I can shadow a different class, hopefully an older one, in order to compare the different techniques he uses to keep the kids attention and such.

My Choice: Fishing =]

Yesterday, it was absolutely gorgeous outside, so my boyfriend and I decided to go get our fishing licenses, and we went fishing for the first time this year! I just got my own fishing pole, and I wanted to try it out. It's bright pink, and the reel lights up green and purple. I was hoping to catch at least one fish, but unfortunately I didn't catch any, and my boyfriend didn't either. We were fishing at the right spot; however, we ended up having no luck at all. I'm just glad that I got to somewhat break in my pole, and I can't wait to go again soon. Next time, we are going to take my boyfriend's son with us because he already has his own spiderman fishing pole and is so excited to go. I can't wait! =]

Grease is Over... Connection

I can't believe that Grease is already over! =[ That was my last musical ever, unless I end up auditioning for more productions in college. Well, anyways, Grease went by extremely too fast, and I'm really gonna miss it. I got to help out so many different people with my passion, vocal music. Even during hell week, I helped out a few people. It was crunch time, and we weren't exactly ready! Our first dress rehearsal was very messy, as expected, but our second one went a lot smoother. Then, it was opening night, and we were all very nervous, it seemed. It ended up going really well, in my opinion. I only messed up on my dances a little bit. The Friday and Saturday night shows were the best, overall. I did a really good job on my song, according to all my friends and family. Even people I don't know came up to me to congratulate me. Now, it's all over, but it was amazing while it lasted. Grease is the word! =]

Field Trip

Even with everything else I had to do this week, I found some time to go see Mr. L, and I must say, I'm glad I did. I haven't seen him teach since he was my choir teacher my freshman year. I had no idea he was so good with little kids. The class that I sat in on was a class of kindergarteners. They behaved like young children always do, but they were so fascinated with what Mr. L was teaching them. There's just something about him. He has a way of making pretty much anything fun or interesting. Every single one of those kids wanted a turn to go up in the front of the class. It was so adorable!

It was kind of difficult to plan out when I was going to go, considering both Mr. L and I are involved in Grease and have a certain call time. I had to make sure I would be able to go there and run home to get ready before I had to be back at school. I made it work though.

Stress Reliever =]

Let's see, what relieves stress? For me, there aren't many ways for me to stop stressing. I'm surprised that my blood pressure isn't completely through the roof. However, there are a few stress relievers that I've found work well for me. First of all, yes, I am a smoker, and I don't plan on quitting, at least not anytime soon. When I'm really stressed out, lighting up a ciggie-butt(cigarette) makes me feel a lot better. If one doesn't work, sometimes I light up another right after I'm done. That's only when I'm extremely stressed out though. Besides smoking to relieve stress, I blast all kinds of different music. I can't get enough music because it picks me up when I'm down and calms me down when I am stressed out. Got any other ideas for stress relievers? I'm open to suggestions, even though I'm not really sure if anything else will really help me.

Grease Connection!

Lindenwold High School presents Grease from March 11-13! I am very excited to be playing a lead role as Marty! I really wasn't sure what part I was going to receive, but I am so glad that I got a member of the Pink Ladies. Being a cast member in Grease definitely relates to my senior project in many ways. First of all, I have my own solo song, "Freddy My Love!" Yeah, the other Pink Ladies and Sandy have back-up parts, but its mainly all me. I had to practice my song a lot to get it just right. A couple of my friends in the play also asked me for help with their songs. So, after practice a few times, I stayed longer just to help out others with their music. I really enjoyed myself and felt like I made a difference. Another way I helped out was by teaching my friend how to annunciate more, in order for the audience to be able to understand his words more clearly. I was so glad to be able to help in my own way, and people were so appreciative. Oh yeah, before I forget, Brian(our pianist) didn't show up to our rehearsal Saturday, leaving Chris Price to learn "The Great Pretender," by himself. I figured I would try to help out as best as I could, so I jumped on the piano and started playing the melody for him. He started getting it down with no problems, and that made me feel really good. =]
